The T-Mobile myTouch 4G Slide is a touchscreen Slider smartphone designed and manufactured by HTC Corporation for T-Mobile USA. It is the fourth in the Mytouch family. The phone resembles the myTouch 4G at first glance but other details and the interface gives it away. The myTouch is the first myTouch to have HTC Espresso 3.0, similar to HTC Sense 3.0. Highlights include: the 8 megapixel camera, the Genius Button, and keyboard.[2]
The myTouch 4G Slide was unveiled on July 11 2011 on the T-Mobile website.[3] Pre-orders were taken on July 14. The phone was finally launched on July 26 2011.[4][5]

During development, the myTouch 4G Slide was known as HTC "Doubleshot" and was leaked out to the public as its official name.[6] myTouch developers had read numerous reviews and found many people hated the quality on cameras found on most phones. The team then created the 4G Slide to be capable of using a very strong camera.
The myTouch 4G Slide was released to the United States on July 26th, 2011 through T-Mobile USA. [7] The phone confirms the rumors set on multiple blogs.[8]
The design of the myTouch 4G Slide is a refinement of the design of the myTouch 4G. From the front, the phones look very similar, the main difference between small changes to the four physical buttons. The back of the phones are noticably different. Also, the screen on the myTouch 4G Slide is 3.7", meanwhile the myTouch 4G has 3.8". The myTouch 4G Slide is thicker than the myTouch 4G due to the addition of the sliding physical keyboard. The physical keyboard comes out of the left-side of the phone.
The myTouch 4G Slide stands out amongst other Android handsets because of its rare physical slide-out keyboard. The keyboard has 4 rows.
Also, the phone has four physical keys on the front: Home, Menu, Back, and the Genius Button along with the optical trackpad."Genius" is a custom voice command and text-to-speech system powered by Dragon Dictation technologies.[9] The button replaces, and is in the location of, the Search button previously on the myTouch 3G. On the sides, the phone has the camera and volume up/down buttons. On the top, the phone has its lock/power button.
The myTouch 4G Slide has a 3.7-inches (480 x 800 Pixels) WVGA Super LCD Touchscreen. The multi-touch display is designed to be used with a bare finger or multiple fingers.
The myTouch 4G Slide features a 1.2 GHz dual-core Snapdragon processor and supports up to a 32 GB MicroSD card (an 8 GB card is included).
The myTouch 4G Slide features a rear-facing 8 megapixel camera capable of recording videos in 1080p at 30 frames per second and dual flash which helps to illuminate objects in low-light conditions. The camera comes with a bundle of features including: Sweepshot, Burstshot, HDR(High Dynamic Range), and zero shutter lag. In addition, the myTouch 4G Slide has a 1.3 megapixel camera on front of the device designed for use with video calling and for taking portrait images although it can also be used in other applications.
The camera has been highly-praised by various reviewers. Notably, tech blog Gizmodo raised the point that the myTouch 4G slide may be "The Best Camera Phone Everrrr"[10]
The device comes pre-installed with a 1520 mAh Li-ion rechargeable battery that is designed to be user-replaceable. Stand by for the preinstalled phone is Standby time: 12.4 days (HSPA+), 9.8 days (2G) Talk time: 6.9 hours (HSPA+), 8.9 hours (2G)
A modified HTC Sense 3.0 user interface is added for the 4G Slide. Some differences on the Sense included the bottom of the screen changed to suit the myTouch, and 5 screens instead of the original 7.
The device features quad-band (850/900/1800/1900) GSM connectivity for 2G networks. For HSPA+ UMTS bands I, II and IV are supported[11], providing speeds up to 21.1Mbps downlink and 5.76Mbps uplink.
